Constituent generation models describe how constituents (eg sediment, nutrients, salt) are generated within a functional unit. This may be static or time-varying as a function of flow or other variables.

Some constituent generation models require other models as prerequisites or postrequisites. For example, if you choose the nutrient transport/sediment models, you must use appropriate routing in the reaches where these models are applied.
