Some water may be lost during delivery from extraction site to water user. Distribution loss can be modeled either are modelled in either Simple Distribution Loss method or Complex Distribution Loss method. Simple Distribution Loss method defines the loss as an absolute component or a percentage of supplied demand (not extracted volume at extraction site, but extracted volume minus loss). Therefore, total extracted volume = absolute loss componentĀ  + proportion loss of supplied demandĀ  + supplied demand = absolute loss component + (1+proportion loss) * supplied demand. Complex Distribution Loss method is based on the component lossesĀ  specified in the Victorian Water Savings Protocol with more detailed components and more complex calculation method. The concept of total extraction volume calculation in Complex Distribution Loss is same as that for Simple Distribution Loss.

Note: Distribution loss will only be taken into account in resource assessment if "Usage from Account Host plus Distribution Losses" is selected in resource assessment system.
