Getting started in the Community Space
Welcome. This space is designed to help support the online eWater Community. It provides a collaborative space for sharing ideas and tips about the software and contributing to its further development.
Most sections are open to editing by any Community Participant with a Confluence ID. We encourage you to comment, add and modify content in ways you think would be useful to the community.
Why get involved? The space is intended to allow Community Participants to solve problems, expand their skills and keep abreast of the latest developments:
- connect with others in the water sector;
- learn how to use and customise Source;
- contribute to and/or stay informed about ongoing Source development; and
- remain up to date with 'best modelling practices' and work with other experts to help evolve these.
Watch the confluence introduction video to get started, or just start navigating from the icons on the Home Page or the menu on the left. You can also construct a personal space by creating a child page, or manage content how you like by creating a /wiki/spaces/SC/pages/51643458.
Or here are a few suggestions if you just want to dive in:
Â
WHAT | WHY |
Add or enhance a Source Project | Facilitate collaboration between offices in your department Link your models to plug-ins, the Source workbench (BitBucket), or other functionality to help you use models, which will be added in the future. Share some info from your project with the broader water or NRM sector (by setting permissions) |
Comment on User Guide | Prompt eWater to improve the Source User Guide documentation - the squeaky wheel gets oiled! |
Create a collaborative group | For specific jobs, e.g. updating the model for a valley, running new scenarios, Source 2013 planning etc. For regular joint business |
Contribute to the Focus Topic (--> best practice guidelines) | Foster best practice Harmonise policy and practice, or practice between jurisdictions |
Create your own community | The most efficient way to work if you have a complex, multifaceted job to perform. Customise a page with selected elements from the community, so you only see what you need and no more. |
What you see is just the start. This is a 'beta' website, with greater attention paid to some parts of the website than others. As both as host to the Source Modelling Community and a participant in it, eWater will expand what you can do in the collaboration space. This will be done in response to feedback already received from Source users in the scoping phase for the space, and based on ongoing suggestions from you. You can make suggestions in the comments field on many pages, or contact us at https://support.ewater.org.au/.
