Plugin Description

Lucicat

Lucicat ('Land Use Change Incorporated Catchment') Rainfall Runoff Model (M. Bari PhD thesis, 2005) for simulating streamflow generated from catchments with changing vegetation cover. Lucicat is a lumped model that simulates physical hydrologic processes. 

Physical properties are input as parameters.
Lucicat Interflow + Baseflow = Source baseflow.
Lucicat Surface Runoff = Source runoff - baseflow.

1. Stream bank buffering transferred from execution in channel routing to a final step in RU processing. (limitation is that upstream flows cannot be absorbed by unsaturated stream banks downstream)
2. Deep groundwater discharge (baseflow1) computed from vertical flow over gw saturated area (area_sat_gw) with gradient of half head at stream divided by clay depth to bedrock. (Half head because actual head tapers from head at stream to zero at edges of saturated area)

Lucicat Salt

Lucicat Salt adds dryland salinity processes to the Lucicat Rainfall Runoff model. 

Salt added to deep groundwater discharge by diffusion from clay matrix into vertical flow in preferred pathways (baseflow1).
Diffusion rate (tonnes/ha/yr) set as parameter (Matrix_diffusion_rate). Added salt is not mixed with other groundwater stores
but passed directly into stream bank store where it mixes with that store's salt.
