This Source Modelling CommunityBeta web-based workspace is intended to provide ways for you to expand your skills and keep abreast of developments in the water sector, specifically in modelling methods and data or scenario management and presentation. It also provides opportunities for you to augment the Source software, for example by creating plug-ins, and to influence the further development of Source and supporting documentation. This 'beta' workspace will be further developed to more fully satisfy those needs.
The Source Modelling CommunityBeta space was created in response to an identified need by surveys of Source modellers for a way to develop, validate, and disseminate good modelling practice, as well as help each other solve every day problems and share ideas, and your ongoing inputs and feedback are vital to making it a success. By contributing to this space, you will also be helping to organise, upgrade and distribute knowledge that the broader Source Modelling Community can use in modelling practice.
Our online presence mainly The workspace consists of two basic toolstechnologies, a forum called the 'Knowledge Pool which is a forum and the ' and a wiki-type space, the Source Modelling Community Home, a wiki type space (this page), hosted on the Confluence platform. These tools provide mechanisms for knowledge gathering, exchange and generation, which occurs as a result of interaction and relationship building between participants. We envisage the forum will be used , which provides content and mechanisms to comment on and evolve the content. The forum is useful for initiating discussions, problem solving, and general conversational style interactions. The Source Modelling Community Home is for generating and organising larger volumes of information which may be useful to refer to at a later date or you think may be useful for other modellers (to get you on your way, we've created a Getting Startedstarted in the Community Space section).
Community interactions can occur in either of these places, or somewhere else entirely, the . The important thing is that you as community members are interacting in a way that is useful and meaningful for yourselvesto you.
