Source Frequently asked Questions (FAQs)

  • How to know what Source version a project was last saved in?

You can use an archive tool such as 7-Zip to view the contents of the .rsproj file. In the .rsproj is a text file called “_CreatorMetadata.txt”. This file contains the project saves history, including the version history.

  • Beta Vs. Production release

Beta releases have more functionality than the latest production release but will not be as stable or fully documented. In the Beta version, software features are complete, but they might contain a number of known or unknown bugs. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts on users, often incorporating usability testing. The process of delivering a beta version to the users is called a beta release. This is typically the first time the software is available outside the organization that developed it. It is not suggested to use the Beta version for final project delivery. Production release is a final tested version released to users, fully functional, debugged, and ready to be used.
