Application to Stormwater Management
This section focuses on structural stormwater treatment devices / measures, as the music development team have generated algorithms for common types of such measures to allow music users to estimate an asset’s cost elements (and therefore its life cycle cost) given information about its size (e.g. area of treatment zone, catchment area, etc.). However, the life cycle costing module in music does allow users to manually enter cost elements associated with non-structural measures (e.g. educational programs, street sweeping, etc.) and then simply calculate a life cycle cost and/or an equivalent annual payment cost. This is possible via the Generic Treatment Node in music. Cost elements need to be estimated by the user, using local information and/or literature values (e.g. from Taylor and Wong, 2002). See Life-Cycle Costing for Generic Treatment Nodes for more details.
