Best practice workshops

Overview

This is your opportunity to showcase how you're using Source to help manage or solve specific water problems, or pose questions about how to apply Source. Hear from a panel of leading Source modellers about how they are tackling similar problems. These are brainstorming sessions with a focus on solving water management problems using Source and associated modelling resources.

Structure

There will be four best practice workshops at Source 2013:

Day One
Thu 19 Sep, 1:30pm - 3:30pm

    • (A) River system modelling for water planning
      (B) Urban water modelling

Day Two
Fri 20 Sep, 10:30am - 12:30pm

    • (C) Optimisation modelling
    • (D) Catchments water quantity and quality modelling

If topics are advanced sufficiently during discussions then participants can consider whether it would be useful to review the best practice guidelines.

Your inputs

Best practice workshops are designed to generate discussions about Source modelling for specific water management issues.

We invite you to raise a point for discussion in one or more workshops, for instance:

  • get feedback on potential modelling solution using Source
  • pose a question about problems you are having with modelling using Source.

The workshops are NOT for presenting complete stories about how you applied a Source model, but excerpts from the story that concisely illustrate a point you want to make. Presentations should be brief - 1 to 5 slides max over 5-10 minutes - so that all workshop participants who want to present get a chance. The idea is to stimulate discussion about modelling rather than listen to longer talks and respond with a question or two at the end of them.

Submit an abstract

So we can better organise the workshops we ask you to provide us with an ‘abstract’ with information about each discussion point you wish to raise:

  • Your name and organisation
  • A brief statement (e.g. 1-2 sentences) of your discussion point (i.e. concisely describe a modelling solution or pose a question)
  • Context of the problem (no more than 150 words), e.g. describe your Source model and the problem it is designed to solve.

Please fill out the abstracts template and email to Ralph Ogden.

Note: presentations need to be relevant to the four themes above, and will be scheduled subject to time constraints. If you want to present on another theme then consider reserving a space in the Modelling Souk by emailing Ralph Ogden.

Deadline: Friday 6 September.
