Climate Data Template Builder
The Climate Data Template Builder is used to build climate data templates in the .mct format similar to .mlb ( meteorological template) files created by MUSIC6. By using the template builder, the user can build and export a climate data file with custom time steps and date range.
The builder can be accessed via the Tools option as shown below:
Once the builder is opened, there are options to change the time step, start date and end date, as shown below:
The rainfall and PET data to be added to the template can be selected using the Data to Export option.
Rainfall can be selected using either the File Input or Data Source Input. The file formats supported by the File Input option of the builder are:
BOM 6 Minute Rainfall File (.TXT)
Tarsier Daily Timeseries (.TTS)
CDT comma separated (.CDT)
CSV comma separated (.CSV)
WISKI CSV (.CSV)
Met Office CSV (.CSV)
Detailed information on each of the file formats is available at Supported Rainfall File Formats
Once the rainfall data is imported using the File Input method, the builder asks for specifying the unit of the data as below:
After specifying the appropriate unit of the data, the builder provides a preview of the imported data as a bar graph with legend showing:
Null Values
Accumulated Values
Valid Data
Rainfall Preview
It is to be noted that the null values and accumulated values will only be displayed when the data format is BOM pluviograph files.
The Data Source Input option allows the user to import the rainfall data already in the Data Sources of MUSICX.
The PET data files can be imported using:
File Input - can be used to import Monthly PET Text Files and Monthly PET CSV Files
Data Source/Pattern - can be used to import the PET data already in the Data Sources of MUSICX
Monthly Pattern - can be used to either manually enter the monthly PET values or import a CSV file containing monthly values as shown below:
Once the rainfall and PET data are imported using one of the above combinations, the Climate Data Template Builder will look as below:
By default, the rainfall data is displayed as a bar graph and the PET data as a line graph in the preview.
Finally, the template can be saved as a .mct file, and this can be used used a Template Climate Data while configuring the MUSICX model as below:
MUSICX allows both .mlb and .mct file formats to input the climate data using Template Climate Data.
